Megan, have you ever watched the survival show, Alone?? It's sooo good. Our kids got into it too. A woman has never won that either, *but* the way they go about surviving is SO inspiring to me and quite different from the males. Could write a whole Substack about it. Anyway, that's what I thought of reading about you cheering for the women sailors. xoxx
I haven’t seen it! My daughters might have. I like the lens of gender and survival tactics. If I watch it I’ll reach back out with thoughts. take care!
Thank you for these lovely thoughts, Megan. Among other things, this reminds me that this year I want to read my friend Janet's edited collection of Gellhorn's letters, which has sat on my TBR shelves for too long.
Love it and what we must do," so we beat on, boats against the current." My company's motto in the 82nd Airborne Division was" Give me something I can't do."
Thinking about braving the storms and pressing through a long difficult situation at all odds, we will learn new lessons on how to turn things around and be more diligent in avoiding any amount apathy so that this situation may not repeat the next time around.
My mother, who we just learned is dying soon of metastasized cancer, cried as she watched the inauguration. Then she said , we need to put in an in law apartment. There are people I love who may be deported. We have to have a place for them. And so it begins. One small grace at a time.

(For some reason we watched Season 7 first... Fascinating gender stuff in that one for sure.)
