Even numbers are more hospitable, more engaging, and instantly divisable. Sure Primes have their allure - at 71, I say I'm in my prime!

I'm a symmetry person also. This is another odd piece of advice, but I have solved some problems by doubling or halving the condition. I don't really know how to explain this, but here is a very small example. I couldn't get my dog to stop jumping over the dog gate. It finally occurred to me to place another gate on top. Two gates! This might be very obvious to most people, but it took me a while! I often use this "formula" and my frying pan is close by.

An interesting factoid from the journalism trenches: Readers are far more likely to click on any listicle with an odd number in the headline, like 9 or 11.

My favorite number has always been the number seven. I also like five, a number that is very important in Hinduism. Village councils in India always number five people. Trinities are fundamental to Western beliefs and traditions. When I turned eleven, I felt much older than I did when I was ten. Turning twenty-one felt more momentous than turning eighteen. But, frankly, I've never thought about having a preference for odd versus even numbers until I read this post. I also didn't know it was your birthday season. So, happy birthday and wishing you a New Year of good omens.
